"Those who think they have no time for healthy eating ....
First, briefly, I’ll share with you my own personal experience with skin irritation. About two months ago, I would unnoticeably reach down to scratch itchy knees. Then I noticed a change to both elbows and knees as they felt “rough”, abnormally raised and slightly hardened to touch when I had applied a moisturizer to these areas. So, when I observed the skin change, nearly right away a warning sign initiated that something was obviously indifferent about my body. As you continue to read on, I will reveal the cause and quick resolve to my skin flare-up.
Granted I knew exactly how to identify eczema from my stent of treating multiple patients at a retirement community for nine years, as various skin ailments had occurred all of the time, and now adamantly studying Naturopathic medicine, I believe that there is a great disconnect to the underline causes to skin irritation, such as eczema and how all of these diversions are simple to explore.
According to studies, dermatitis was estimated to affect 245 million people globally in 2015. A rule of thumb to remember is that medically the general term for any type of skin inflammation is called Dermatitis. The most common types of dermatitis are Atopic Dermatitis, Nummular Dermatitis, Irritant Contact Dermatitis, and Allergic Contact Dermatitis.
The distinction between Eczema and Dermatitis to describe a skin disorder can be puzzling as both terms are almost always used synonymously. A lot of people use the term eczema to refer exclusively to atopic Dermatitis.
The inflammation of the skin that coexists with dermatitis, or eczema produces scaling, flaking, thickening, weeping, crusting, color changing and very often itching.
Other external influences are the weather changing from warm to cold, a dry atmosphere, exposure to allergens, stress, or infections like colds can emphasize this condition.
3. LATEX / PRODUCT /METAL ALLERGY
The most common case of dermatitis result from allergies called allergic contact dermatitis. As skin inflammation may be linked to contact with medical creams, perfumes, latex, ointments, cosmetics, rubber, poison ivy, metal or metal alloys such as gold, silver, and nickel found in jewelry or zippers.
You may also be inflicted if other family members have a history of hay fever, such as myself, asthma, and/or atopic dermatitis. In these cases, it is likely that a child is prone to atopic dermatitis that will develop based off of the factors mentioned at any given time throughout his/her lifetime.
5. INTESTINAL IMBALANCE
Another factor that may lead to eczema is a condition known as “leaky gut”, low levels of hydrochloric acid in the stomach called hypochlorhydria. This can occur when the intestines become porous and allow small particles of undigested food to enter the bloodstream, evoking an allergic reaction. This can be detected by a urine test, and more information may be found here: Testing for leaky gut syndrome-https://www.sovereignlaboratories.com/blog/testing-for-leaky-gut/.
A genetically base imbalance in the enzyme delta-6-desaturase, which is an overgrowth of yeast in the system called candidiasis may contribute to eczema. Please see more information on how to identify candidiasis here: CDC https://www.cdc.gov/fungal/diseases/candidiasis/index.html.
Finally, some people have a sensitivity to sunlight that may cause skin irritation. This is more detectable during warmer summer months.
If your skin remains in direct contact with the irritant, then the dermatitis is likely to spread and become more acute. In this skin “breakdown” summary are the various types of eczema.
~Atopic Dermatitis also referred as atopic eczema, or in children, infant eczema is an ailment connected to allergy-prone individuals. It typically appears to the face, bends of elbows, behind knees, and is chronically itchy. According to Naturopaths, it usually appears within the first year, and almost always within the first five years. While women who take probiotics during pregnancy have had success at reducing atopic dermatitis in their infants.
~Seborrhea causes scaly patches and red skin to the scalp and/or face, which is believed to be an abundant growth of yeast in the body.
~Dermatitis Herpetifom is is a chronic, itchy skin rash that appears as bumps or blisters. This ailment is connected to intestinal and immune systems disorders triggered by the consumption of dairy and/or gluten products.
~Nummular dermatitis a chronic condition in which round, scaling lesions appear on the limbs. This may be caused by an allergy to nickel and frequently associated with dry skin.
Overall, be vigilant and consciously aware of chronic stress, toxic products applied to the skin or the types of food being ingested for they are your mapping to external health and wellbeing. I get that it’s difficult to break cycles, but if it were easy, everyone would be doing it. All it takes is just one person to break a pattern of our miseducation.

More Preventative Tips
Researchers link the cold/flu to psychological stress. Therefore, the best way to fight a cold/flu is to take it on by strengthening the immune system. The thymus and adrenal glands are the “elite” for the immune system. When the body is sick it is under stress, and stress depletes the immune system.

Let’s Begin with the Affirmation for Week 25 !
“I Can Stand Up for what is Truth”
1)Fear of Being a Burden
First of all, asking of others could lead to burden if you’re out of practice of doing so. You could be fearful that asking for help will take something away from the helper, or assume they will see the task as a heavy load. As one should know that most individuals that are secure, love helping others.
According to Dr. Hendriksen, Ph.D., “the most primitive part of the brain- the same reward pathway activated by food and sex-lights up in response to altruistic giving.” Not only does helping bring strength to social ties, but it also allows the helpers to feel good about themselves. If this is not the case for you, & the helper is actually over-burdened or are too busy, graciously trust him/her to communicate as so & find someone else to assist you with your need.
2) Past Mistakes
Depending on one’s level of consciousness, their reverence of duties is seasonal. In this regard, a person has lessons that will be either unknowingly bypassed or have substantially completed, like a great cycle or continuance. A person’s circumstance is led by personal choice, & the other is brought upon based on outside influences. Every path is an opportunity to educate ourselves on. These are opportunities to internally grow & improve during each turn of the wheel. Healing is essential in order to release from the bondage of past mistakes so that we may receive help from those around us.
Also known as a “needy appearance”-incompetent, stupid, or broken. Regardless, the worry of appearance is just another apparent “roadblock” when it comes to asking for help. Remind yourself that the ability to have someone to ask for assistance means that you are being supported & connected. Reframe from the mindset of whichever fearful appearance that our thoughts could relay, & utilize the best options that are near to us.
In order to alleviate the fear of appearing weak, for example, match the request with someone considered an expert. Say if you were having car troubles, you’d more than likely seek a professional mechanic for their feedback, or if financial woes occur, you’d be apt to speak with an individual who specializes in finances, & so on.
The key word here is an expert, one that is reliable and willing to provide specific information. Furthermore, try asking for help as if you’re inquiring about expert instructions. For instance, one may ask a helper, “Can I pick your brain for a minute”, “Can I get your perspective on something”, or “It’s been a long time since I’ve done this.” You should also be present in defining what is needed in order to counter the fear of appearing weak.
Defining & asking for what you want is necessary before the requirement of others can step in. So, if it’s the fear of being a burden, unresolved issues, or the worry of appearing weak- practice being acutely specific in regards to your need(s). This sounds easy, but for many people, it’s not. We may know what we want at this very minute, but have no clue of the bigger picture. Sometimes we focus on the surface of the ocean, not realizing what’s above or beneath it. This can cause unsettled waves of destructive around us.
An approach to dismantling the fear of asking for help is ideal as you may know by this point. Make a list of what it is that you are seeking, noting specific qualities, ideas & more. The act of writing lists prompts us to tune in to what it is that we need, enforcing our true intent. Take time, and be honest in every situation, including everything that is most important first. We can direct our mind this way to consciously create the circumstances we desire.
